cLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Parent /tot intro to dance (ages 2-3.) As our little ones become walkers and talkers, movement and sound activities broaden to strengthen their developmental, physical and social skills through multi-sensory involvement. Utilizing circle music-based activities, full body movement with their big counterpoints and on their own, and interactive games, little ones gain kinesthetic and social skills of themselves and with others. This class combines both music and dance in a very fun class for toddlers. Parents are welcome.
	Preschool dance classes (Tiny Tots age: 3-5 )- Our Tiny Tots Preschool dance classes are intended for learning basic rhythm, balance, coordination, technique as well as learning simple dance combinations. This fun-filled class is exciting and energetic especially designed for the younger preschool age crowd to stimulate their imagination and promote their creativity.

	HIP HOP dance (Pee-Wee ages: 6-8, Juniors ages 8-12, Teens ages 13+, and Adult only classes)-- We teach urban, street Hip Hop that is highly energetic, funky and a lot of fun to learn, while excluding the negative aspects that hip hop is known for. We offer classes for all age and skill levels! Old school hip hop -- This class combines "old school" dance moves from the late 80's and 90's, with the engery and funk its known for, and creates an absolutely EXCITING class! (come check it out!) BREAK DANCE (Jrs. ages 10+ and Teen/Adults ages 13+) Impress your friends!. Break dancing is a cross between dance and athletics. Learn various breaking poses, tricks, stunts and acrobatics, broken into simple, easy-to-learn movements Fnk Tap (ages: Jrs. 8+ and Teen/Adults) Tap is an exciting and importand dance form that makes you the musician as well the dancer. You will learn rhythm, timing and musicality and it is one of the most fun styles of dance to learn! Funk Tap is a class taking Tap fundamentals and combining it with Rhythm and Hip Hop!

	BROADWAY DANCE-- Broadway Dance teaches dance routines and techniques usually performed in musicals. Routines incorporate dancing and acting to actual pieces of well-known musicals as well as customly choreographed pieces. Very entertaining! LYRICAL JAZZ (Jrs. ages 8+) Lyrical consists of slower movements and taps onto your capturing onto the mood of a song. Lyrical strengthens the body, develops flexibility and improves balance. CONTEMPORARY/ other jazz based DANCE (Teen/Adults ages 13+) Contemporary reflects a combination of jazz and ballet performed in a more abstract way. It incorporates an eclectic blend of contemporary and post-modern movement into the routines, where musicality and rhythm are very important part of this moderndance.
DANCE TECHNIQUE Dance Technique is a class designed to develop your dance fundamental skills. Jumps, Turns, Posture, Balance, Core Strength and Flexibility. Great class for all dancers looking for fundamental dance practice. BALLET Classical Ballet, Pointe and Pilates classes, taught by Academy of Ballet Arts, can be taken right here at Groove Nation.

	SOCIAL DANCING /Ballroom — For beginners and those sharpening up their skills, these classes are fun for everyone! Learn the smooth dances: WALTZ., FOXTROT AND SWING or learn the Latin dances: CHA CHA, RUMBA & SALSA; both classes will leave you begging for more!! (Fee is $94/ 8 week session)

Zumba dance fitness classes Zumba® fuses hypnotic latin rhythms and easy to follow moves to create a dynamic fitness program that will blow you away. Our goal is simple: We want you to want to work out, to love working out, to get hooked. Zumba® Fanatics achieve long term benefits while experiencing an absolute blast in one exhilarating hour of caloric-burning, body-energizing, awe-inspiring movements meant to engage and captivate for life! performing arts program: DANCE COMPANY TEAMS
	Groove Nation offers dance companies for those dancers who show a higher level of skill and commitment. Talented and dedicated dancers are selected in the month of July and August at our Company Team Intensives. These dancers perform at local community events and school functions, as well as traveling and competing at regional and national dance competitions. Our dancers also attend conventions and workshops, which allow them to learn new skills and perfect techniques. Groove Nation Dance Academy has received the prestigious honor of being presented the "Judges Choice Award" by the Federation of Dance Competitions. If you are interested in participating on one of these teams, please call our office at 360-699-7150, to discuss your options. Taking drop-in Hip Hop classes ahead of time, is strongly recommended to warm you up to our style of dance. Outside dancers may AUDITION at the 2010-11 Company Team Intensives are held July 26-29 and August 16-19. KONTROLLED KAOS (ages 6-10... Level 2) VELOZITY (ages 9-12..
